Shooting Dropsy

At Quirky, we launched three consumer products a week across all retail categories. Our in-house creative team had become experts at these launches. We soon added a new retail category, ‘pets,’ which posed unique challenges. Dropsy was a dog Plinko game where your dog would drop the ball into the top of the game and be shot out at a different hole each time.

We had a select group of Quirky dogs we used occasionally, and getting them to be in the right position at the right time took a lot of patience and a ton of treats. To make things even harder for basic product launches, we would render the actual product at the end of the photoshoots and use a cardboard mock-up as a stand-in. Look at the final shots at the end of the video and see how much work went into a typical launch.
